Teaching Experience:
Full-time teaching in Chinese language and culture since 1995. Required courses taught include: “Intensive Reading,” “Listening,” “Spoken Chinese,” “Extensive Reading,” “Watching, Listening and Speaking,” and “Business Culture” at both elementary and medium levels. Selective courses taught include: “Chinese Written Characters,” “Preparing for HSK,” and “Introduction to China.” Frequently participated in Chinese-language training for foreign consulates and business companies in Guangzhou. Frequently offered course in Mandarin for the New Faculty Training Program at South China University of Technology. Received the Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (Advanced Level) in 1997. Certified Mandarin examiner. Familiar with all types of courses and needs of students at varying levels. One of the most popular Chinese instructors on campus.
Research Experience:
Extensive research in language acquisition, pedagogy in teaching Chinese as a second language, and the composition of Chinese textbooks. Publications include journal articles, two Chinese textbooks (co-author of Spoken Chinese, 1998, Guangming ribao chubanshe, and Elementary Chinese, 2006, Renmin jiaoyu chubanshe), as well as teaching materials for short-term courses in Chinese for the US Consulate.

Excellence in Teaching at the School of International Education, South China University of Technology, 2005, 2008, and 2010, respectively.
