On the afternoon of November17th, the School of International Education held a Dr and Master's overseas student symposium on University Town Campus A1-402 of South China University of Technology. Professor Cai Min, teacher Fang Yanqin, Ou Chenxi, and 40 English and Chinese medium Dr and Master's overseas students studying within institutes such as Economics and Trade, Computer Science and Engineering, Biological Science and Engineering attended the forum.

BEKBOLAT KASSANOV (Chinese name: Bie Ka) from the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering institute firstly shared his learning experiences as a doctor to overseas students. He explained how to search for literature on the homepage of the school library, providing clear consulting methods for students; THU THUY TRAN (Chinese name: Chen Qiushui) from the Economic and Trade institute said home by their parents, go out to rely on friends. Using her own experiences she explained to overseas students that they should be willing to make friends with Chinese students as they can help international students with many issues related to learning and life at University. In the session of free sharing, MARKUS WONGGOR MIRINO JR (Chinese name: MI Ku) and ADI RAFRASTARA FAUZI (Chinese name: A Di) both referred to the importance of communication with tutors and class mates. The students were inspired and carefully recorded the information they were given.

In the Q&A session, students raised their own queries regarding published papers, scholarship applications and other issues. Professor Cai Min, teachers Fang Yanqin and Ou Chenxi answered these queries in detail.

After these experiences were shared, teacher Fang Yanqin explained daily practices for overseas students, including asking for leave, training programs and the extension of scholarships. This informed the students of the appropriate responses to problems they may encounter and how to solve these problems.
