On June 17, Confucius Institute of University of Idaho held an opening ceremony for short term Chinese class students in our north campus 320504,our Deputy Dean Liu Cheng, Dean of Confucius Institute of University of Idaho in China Xue Hexian, teacher Liu Jian Hong, Moscow high school teacher Lee Ann Eareckson and 16 students who participated in this opening ceremony. Teacher Bu Jiahui, the director of Chinese language teaching and research section, Confucius Institute office staff and Chinese student volunteers that attended.
In her speech, Deputy Dean Liu Cheng, communicate with students using Chinese and English, shared about his cross cultural experience in the US, explain to the students about cultural stereotypes and misunderstandings, to encourage students to seize the opportunity in Guang Zhou, and to learn and experience the real China.
Moscow high school teacher representative Lee Ann Eareckson and Idaho Confucius Institute student representative Anna Daley Laursen spoke during the opening ceremony; they thanked teachers from SCUT and volunteers for the warm reception. They hope that after this training they can understand more about Chinese culture and history, to provide better choices for the future career development.
Deputy Dean on behalf of the school and Confucius institute of Idaho switched presents, also Dean of Confucius Institute of University of Idaho in China Xue Hexian wore a school badge, to welcome them for becoming part of SCUT. Three Thai people and teacher Luo Guowang also brought a wonderful dancing and martial art performances for the group.
This short term Chinese training course is held for 14 days. Firstly, they went to Beijing for 5 days to visit and study historical places. Then came to Guangzhou for language and culture study and cultural experience activities. The short-term training courses will further promote the in-depth exchanges and cooperation between University of Idaho and our school.
