In the afternoon of 13th of July, our university invited teacher Jianhong from University of Idaho Confucius Institute to hold a "Confucius Institute Expatriate Teachers Experience Exchange Meeting" in B1 – 314. This meeting is about the experience of Chinese language teachers working under Confucius Institute, this exchange is hosted by deputy dean Liu Cheng, and all the staff participated.
Teacher Lu Jianhong is an administrative staff member of the office of administration of foreign students in our college, and then in August 2013 was assigned to go to University of Idaho Confucius Institute to teach Chinese language. Teacher Lu first introduced the geographic location, teachers and other basic conditions of Confucius Institute, and then emphasize on how to use the limited resources to carry out special Chinese teaching activities in the Confucius Institute of University of Idaho. In addition Confucius Institute set up Chinese language courses in University of Idaho and Moscow high school, also opened Tai Ji boxing, Tai Chi Sword and Tai Chi Fan and other martial arts courses. In order to better spread Chinese culture, Confucius Institute opened Chinese food club to teach about Chinese food and development, Chinese movie nights and other cultural activities. Then, she put forward the 'four sense, four adaptation', pointed out that Confucius college teachers should have a sense of identity assignment, sense of value, sense of honor and responsibility, must be able to achieve cross cultural adaptation, teaching adaptation, Life adaptation and psychological adaptation. Only in this way Confucius Institute can work well and spread Chinese culture. Lastly, teacher Lu combined with foreign experience in the work of Confucius Institute, points out the importance of using electronic media to communicate and realize the system management in the teaching management and student management.
The atmosphere was relaxing and active during the exchange. At the end of the occasion, Dean Anran commented “Emphasize the work to have the courage, continuous innovation, and pioneering spirit, seize the opportunity, cherish assignment opportunity, broaden horizon, advancing with the time, and constantly improve the ability to work”. Deputy dean Liu Cheng also shared his experience during his times with Confucius Institute as a Chinese Language teacher when he worked overseas, also pointed out the sense of accomplishment when working with Confucius Institute, must learn from foreign advanced ideas, Selection in our college mobilization of Chinese teachers to actively enroll Confucius college overseas Chinese teachers, self-improvement.
