I thought sakura is from Japan, isn't it? Asked by the student named Eva. Actually, sakura is originated from China.
During the Qingming Festival, School of International Education (SIE) of SCUT held a three-day experience tour of Chu culture among some scholarship-granted overseas students in Wuhan, a beautiful city located in the Central China at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han rivers. In Wuhan sakura is in full bloom and you can also experience the Chu culture several thousand years ago and ancient history of Red Cliff in Three Kingdoms Period.
The tour group including teachers and students firstly visited the Hubei Provincial Museum. And in the museum there is a set of bell chime from the tomb of Marquis Yi (Zenghouyi), which is the largest ancient bronze instrument in China. And the Sword of Goujian,a masterpiece in the cold weapon age of China, is also on display. Everyone was amazed and impressed by the extraordinary wisdom and exquisite craftsmanship of the ancients. When we were gazing at the bronze wares, it seemed like we were communicating with the past in silence. All the people, whether from the west or the east, is able to feel the brilliance of historical culture created by the human beings.
At the end the whole group also paid a visit to the famous Yellow Crane Tower which is situated at the bank of Yangtze River. When we climbing high and gazing far,the scenery was so fantastic that it seemed as if we were in a fairyland. Looking at this great picture, AUNG THU from Myanmar said to his teacher, I love China! I love the history of China! China will definitely be the new power of Asia!
Though only lasted for three days, the cultural tour brought every student enriched experiences. They feasted their eyes on the beautiful scenes, tasted the delicious Hubei cuisine and experienced the unique Chu culture. From these aspects we can understand, to some extent, the extensive and profound culture of China. We also heartily hoped that more overseas students come to China to learn Chinese and fall in love with Chinese culture.
