PhD Scholarships in Food Engineering and Food Technology

Applications are invited for the Chinese Government Scholarships for pursuing PhD studies under the supervision of Professor Da-Wen Sun, South China University of Technology, China, in the area of food engineering and food technology. Applicants should have a BSc and MSc degree in food science and technology, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or other relevant disciplines. Good track records in food engineering and technology research and experiences in scholar publications in international peer-reviewed journals will be an advantage. The deadline of applications will be 30th April 2015.

About Professor Da-Wen Sun
Da-Wen Sun The Professor of Food and Biosystems Engineering in University College Dublin (UCD) and Professor in South China University of Technology, Professor Da-Wen Sun is a world authority in food engineering research and education. He is a Member of Royal Irish Academy which is the highest academic honour in Ireland, he is also a Member of Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe) and a Fellow of International Academy of Food Science and Technology. His main research activities include cooling, drying and refrigeration processes and systems, quality and safety of food products, bioprocess simulation and optimisation, and computer vision technology. Especially, his many scholarly works have become standard reference materials for researchers in the areas of computer vision, computational fluid dynamics modelling, vacuum cooling, etc. Results of his work have been published in more than 700 papers including over 370 peer-reviewed SCI journal papers (Web of Science h-index = 58). He has also edited 14 authoritative books. According to the most recent Thomson Reuters’s Essential Science IndicatorsSM, Professor Sun is ranked at the 26th position of the top 1% of the “most cited scientists” in the category of Agriculture Sciences in the world. Professor Sun is also the Editor-in-Chief of Food and Bioprocess Technology (2012 Impact Factor = 4.115).
